Goethe 1749 - 1832 Regular Member Principals Message Dear Parents, I would like to share the news that the school is now in the process of seeking accreditation with the Council of International Schools (CIS) and the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC). Last week we received a visit from Ms. Serene Lai, a regional accreditation officer, who met with staff members, school leaders and a member of the Board, as well as parents and students. I would like to thank all those who participated in the series of meetings that took place over the course of the day. The decision to pursue accreditation with CIS and NEASC has been taken primarily to provide our senior students with another path to university admission. At the same time the process will take us through an intense self-evaluation that will enable us to confirm that our practices and the quality of teaching and learning we provide matches up with the best schools in the world. This journey does not entail any deviation from our commitment to the International Baccalaureate and our guiding statements. We will remain first and foremost an IB World School. Membership with CIS and NEASC will open up a range of benefits that will enhance the services we are able to provide. Through membership we will be able to participate in several of the more respected international recruitment fairs to allow access to a wider market of teachers and school leaders. RIS will be able to take advantage of professional development opportunities through workshops organized by CIS and NEASC and receive important research information both quantitative and qualitative that will inform what we do and how we do it. I believe that Ms. Lai was impressed with how our school has developed in a relatively short time and I anticipate moving forward to the next step in the process. I will keep you informed. On another matter I would like to direct parents to pick up their ID badges from the front desk and to remember to wear them at all times while on campus. There will be a grace period for those parents/drivers/care givers who havent yet completed the process. If you are in that category please give this high priority as access to the campus will soon be restricted to those with ID badges.
